Nature Coast Republican Club august 9, 2008

Nature Coast Republican Club held its meeting at the American Legion Saturday the 9th. The guest speaker was
Anthony Schembri Citrus County's Administrator. (If you remember back some years ago Anthony Schembri also had a TV series about him which was named "The Commish". Mr. Schembri discussed his many responsibilities as County Administrator such as reviewing many county departments and he also serves the Board of Commissioner as their agent on administrative matters. Mr. Schembri responded to many questions  was well received by the Club members and .  He did a great job.
Mr. Schembri was presented with a personal coffee cup by Club President Al Cislo.
The Club also registered four (4) new members.

Saturday, April 12, 2008, Nature Coast Republican Club hosted a debate between incumbent County Commissioner Vicki Phillips and Challenger Tom Franklin, running for District #3.

Each had 10 minutes to address the members of the club and guests. This was followed by questions from the audience.  The majority of the questions dealt with the county administrator and the budget, with the sheriff's budget causing the most concern.

It was announced that TOO FAR had endorsed the following candidates: Ron Schultz, Joyce Valentino, Vicki Phillips, Hank Hemrick, Charlie Dean and Bernie Leven.

Citrus County Property Appraiser was the guest speaker.

Her duty is to place a fair and equitable market value on every parcel of property, both real and tangible property located in our county. The duty of the property appraiser is to assess property for tax purposes; the taxing authorities (Board of County Commissioner, City Councils, Water Management Districts, School Board) set the tax rate for all property and therefore, the amount of tax to be levied.
