It's a peaceful quiet location from the big city hustle and bustle...yet close enough for day trips to
Tampa, Clearwater, St. Pete, Orlando, Gainesville, Sarasota (airports in each),
in an hour-and-a-half.
The record tarpon (202.5lb.) was caught in Homosassa in May 2001.
