REMEMBER HIT ON UNDERLINED WORDS

I'd love to share a secret area, our little corner of the world...on the Gulf of Mexico 70 miles north of Clearwater Beach, 80 miles west of Disney/Universal.... everyone is welcome to come to our quaint, beautiful village of Riverhaven in Homosassa Springs, Florida.  It's a peaceful quiet location from the big city hustle and bustle...yet close enough for day trips to Tampa, Clearwater, St. Pete, Orlando, Gainesville, Sarasota (airports in each), in an hour-and-a-half.

Ride on the Homosassa River is a beautiful wooded landscaped ride in which we all enjoy the scenery. The fresh air and breeze is great, especially with the sun in your face. Before you know it, we are out in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf is salt water and wide open.  The water is calm with a cool breeze, boy, is this relaxing. If you want to fish, this is the place to do it...... Traveling back we will be heading east where one can enjoy the surroundings of fine homes and restaurants. The boat ride will be about 8 miles to where we can anchor in the fresh blue water springs. Here you can swim with the manatees if you wish. Save the Manatee Club The springs is a great place to picnic, swim, or just relax. All you have to do is settle back and enjoy the sun. This is how you get your Florida tan. Oh Yes, you can take it home with you.  Lucky, you say, yes, we are for sure .....

Enjoying the beauty of the river.

Homosassa River

The Homosassa River is another of the spring-fed rivers within the Springs Coast Watershed. The headwater springs of the Homosassa River are home to both freshwater and saltwater fish. This phenomenon is possible because the mineral content in the spring water resembles minerals found in salt water. The similar mineral content and some fishes' ability to tolerate broad changes in salinity allows some species of saltwater fish to live in these freshwater habitats. The freshwater fish you'll find in the Homosassa River include bream, largemouth bass and gar. Some of the saltwater species you'll see include jacks, mullet, sheepshead and snook.
